i finally got sick. i was just waiting for it as everyone in my department was sick, coughing and sneezing and gagging all over manilla folders, passing them over cubicle walls. i was just waiting. finally it happened yesterday morning and i layed down on my desk and threw up in my garbage can. well not throw up, just that nasty phlegm crap that is sitting inside my chest and throat, and just won't go away. so i had my mom drive me home (sad, eh?) and slept the majority of the day, and of course was up all night. woke up this morning to NO VOICE and a spinning feeling in my head that makes the stomach churning feeling twenty times worse. i decided to make a cup of coffee and have a cigarette before i call my boss and yell at her for getting me sick (really, just so i'll have a voice that she can understand), so i'm listening to the coffee perk and my cats eat breakfast, two things i normally never hear.
so for the past 23 years i've always had cats, always always. i moved into this building and the broker told me NO PETS. i gave my one cat, thurston (the love of my life) to my exboyfriend (thurston's daddy) and the other, paper, to a girl who later gave her to the spca without warning me (which to this day makes me shake and cry and feel like a knot of sadness) and moved in because i was desperate with no place to go. well a few months later i walk into my building to find a tub of cat litter in the hallway. weird. a couple months post that, walking down the stairs i pass a couple who is "just catsitting". i start to wonder, what the hell is that "no pets" thing the broker said, about? well. a day or so after that, the girls downstairs from me bring a small dog into their apartment after letting him potty outside. a dog? this is ridiculous. but still i abide by the rules because i think, maybe these people are all just breaking the rules, right? well a couple weeks ago i look on craigslist for apartments (as i do every day), and find an apartment in my building. and what does it say??
everyone else sees that 'cats ok, dogs ok' part, right? that was the final straw. i called up an animal rescue and rescued these two babies and don't care what anyone says, if everyone else is allowed pets, so am i. that apartment also looks alot nicer than mine (my molding is painted white, my walls are dirty, and my carpets are old), so he can't say its because my apartment has special circumstances.
so now i have two lovely babies again, super remniscent of my old cats which is almost creepy and i didn't even realize. their final names are theo and juniper (in order of photos above).
